A Poll Thread is a special type of discussion thread in our Freesteading Community where the original poster can add one or more polls to the thread.

How to Create a Poll Thread

  1. Go to the forum where you want to post and click “Create Thread”.
  2. Select Poll as the thread type.
  3. Write your Thread Title and main message (optional).
  4. Fill in the poll:
    • Poll Question
    • Add answer choices (click “+” to add more)
    • Choose settings: Multiple votes allowed? Poll duration? Public or anonymous votes?
  5. Click “Create Thread”.

Your poll will appear at the top of the thread. Members can vote and see results (depending on your settings).

What it allows:

  • You (or any member with permission) can create a poll with a question and multiple answer choices.
  • Members can vote on the poll directly inside the thread.
  • Results can be shown immediately, after voting, or only after the poll closes.
  • You can set options like:
    • Multiple choice (allow users to pick more than one answer)
    • Poll duration (e.g., 7 days)
    • Whether votes are public or anonymous

Why it's useful:

Poll threads are great for gathering quick opinions from the community, running votes, deciding on forum events, or just for fun (“What’s your favorite…?”).

When you create a new thread, you’ll usually see a “Add Poll” button or tab where you can set up the poll before posting. Once the thread is live, the poll appears at the top of the first post.

That’s it — simple and effective community voting right inside a normal discussion thread!
