Want to get fewer (or more) emails and alerts from Freesteading? Here's exactly how to control your notifications.
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Log in to your account.
- Click on your avatar (profile picture) in the top right corner.
- Select Preferences.
- In the left sidebar, click on Notifications or Alert Preferences (the exact name may vary slightly).
- You will see options such as:
- Email notifications (for new replies, mentions, watched threads, etc.)
- Alert preferences (on-site notifications/bell icon)
- Watched content (threads, forums, etc.)
- Adjust each setting to your preference:
- Watch with email → Turn off if you don’t want emails
- Receive email for → Customize per activity type
- Notification frequency (daily digest, immediate, etc.)
- Click Save at the bottom when done.
Quick Tips:
- If you're getting too many emails, start by turning off "Watch with email" for forums/threads you're following.
- You can still get on-site alerts (the red bell) even if email is disabled.
- To stop all emails quickly: Set Email notifications to "None" or unsubscribe from specific watched items.
Bonus:
You can also manage notifications for specific threads:- Open any thread → Click the Watch button (star/eye icon) at the top
- Choose whether to receive emails or just on-site alerts
