Good Morning Freedom Friends
Did you know that politicians lie? Lol, of course you did. In fact when you read it you scuffed, grunted , shook your head or even laughed.
We all know politicians have always lied. They lie about their records, their policies, their past, and often their personal lives. That type of lie is as old as politics itself.
But the game is changing and not for the better. There is a deeper sickness that has been poisoning this country for decades. It is not the kind of lying we are used to. Remember the good old days when it was Clinton saying " I didnt sleep with that woman" or Nixon saying " Im not a crook" . This new type is political gaslighting, and it has become a defining weapon of the modern politics.
A lie says something false and hopes you believe it. Gaslighting says something false and then tells you that you are crazy for noticing.
When you point out rising crime, they say crime is down and you are imagining things. When you question open border chaos, they insist the border is secure and you are spreading hysteria. When we question a budget they say they made cuts we need to do our part.
It happins everywhere. When parents raise concerns about school spending, they are labeled extremists and told they hate kids or teachers. When voters question election procedures, we are called threats to democracy. Hey dumb dumb, we are not a democracy.
This is not normal political spin or the politics of our fathers. This is psychological warfare with the specific design of breaking your confidence in your own judgment and your judgment of the people around you.
Gaslighting is the side effect of narcissism. The political narcissist cannot admit fault or error, so reality itself is rewritten.
Words get redefined, history gets reshaped, and the facts are screwed until they fit nicely into the choosen narrative. If the narrative fails, the public is blamed. Lindsey Graham just this week said high gas prices was the people's fault for not backing the actions in Iran.
I have said many time publically that respectful discourse is increadibly healthy to a society. This is not healthy disagreement. This is a pattern of manipulation that leaves citizens doubting their eyes and ears. This is a one sided masterclass in manipulation.
This game of verbal jujitsu is unnecessary, unjust and corrosive to a free society. We should recognize them for what they are and refuse to tolerate them from anyone, left or right.
Just because you oppose the school budget doesn't make you anti kid. Just because you oppose a solar farm doesn't make you anti economic growth. Just because you oppose the actions in Iran doesn't make you non patriotic.
We must stop supporting the Republicrats. We must think for ourselves. Identity politics fuels the gaslighting they use against us.
Maybe we should stop attacking eachother and really look at how we got here.
We could also just continue down our current path, trust the system and eventually someone will get elected and fix the problems of the last administration. After all its the greatest system man has ever known. It would be unpatriotic not to trust it.
That's gaslighting too....
