Growing succulents in Laos is a great hobby! Because the climate in Vientiane is highly tropical and humid, the biggest secrets to growing succulent success are using a very sand gritty, fast-draining soil mix. Avoid regular soil, heavy potting soil. Instead, use a mix blended specifically for cacti or blend your standard soil with pumice, perlite, or coarse sand. Always choosing pots with excellent drainage holes so water can escape and prevent root rot.
