</div><div>That said, from this homesteader’s perspective, the first thing I would think important is anything in the form of tangible assets, things you can touch, hold and own. Land we wanted to live on and be able to develop was very first for us. With no mortgage. After that, buildings, fencing, tools, other equipment, etc – things we will need to have to be able to survive whatever comes to the best of our ability.
Then livestock etc, and trees, plants, seeds, other edible items. I believe with what is coming down the pike, food and water may become more valuable than even precious metals.
The list will likely be different for each person, but I think most homesteaders would agree that owning the land under our feet is fairly high in terms of priority for attaining and maintaining wealth that will last.

Thanks for starting the conversation ๐
So, my question is Why won’t you be doing a fall run again? hehe I have some in the brooder that should be going out on pasture in about a week and a half. Our first time doing meat birds for the freezer. How bad have we messed up? lol

My guess is somewhere along the line your seed was cross pollinated with a Tabasco pepper…

I think we all do the best we can with what we have, and hey, you did buy land under your house, right? I was just thinking that having things in our own possession that are useful to survive is so much more important than money or stocks , bonds, etc – things that have no intrinsic value other than that people agree they have value. What happens when they lose value – those who have them, believing they have ‘wealth’ are left with little or nothing. Much better to have tangible assets that have value regardless of the state of the financial system. If that makes sense….

Sounds like a good idea for subgroups under the Homestead Group…

Not sure what part of NC she is in, but we used to have a home in Asheville and still have some friends from that area that might have or know of something available.
Best wishes for her and bless your heart for reaching out to help her!!

Oh cool! I’d love to see them!
I had to have my son do the youtube stuff for me, cause I have no idea in the world how to do any of that, lol..

Wow. That’s young to wean… Do you have it on calf starter for rumen development? or what is it being weaned to?
I strongly suggest you join the Keeping a Family Cow forum. They have many experienced folks who raise bottle calves. I’ve never done that. They also have several vets who offer free help…
On our homestead, on the few times we have had any respiratory issues, I have used Thyme Essential Oil up the topline and rubbed over the lung area from the withers down toward the front legs. For a calf I wouldn’t use more than four drops.

Oh cool. Didn’t know anyone had coined a term for it. This is how we raise our cattle. No synthetic anything ever. We always have waiting lists for our beef. It’s a niche market for now, or at least it was when we first started, but it sure would be great if all ag went this route. So much better for all involved, including the land.
Thanks for the quick responses to my questions ๐
Make it a great day ๐

Love it!! I have had many similar experiences with folks I have worked with (ironically usually in the medical fields having found no good results!). Nourish and detoxify – the only two necessary components needed for vibrant health and well being, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Are you familiar with the work of Dr Tom Cowan? I am fascinated with his information on the body as a complex system primarily composed of fourth phase water. Completely fascinating. This understanding is also emerging in plant biology and physiology as well. So much new information emerging. I love it.
Looking forward to many chats with you in the future!
