I saw them in two separate stores and am curious as well. I really like the idea, but it did look a little flimsy. I’ve never used them before so maybe I’m being too rough in my opinion. Hopefully someone who has used them will chime in.

I need to add – We collect eggs several times a day. I have heard that eating them, even if they are fertilized will be okay because they are not incubated.

For your pets, Wal-Mart PetRX sells antibiotics in different price ranges and in various strengths. You can see them at: https://www.walmartpetrx.com/ bp-11632-aqua-mox-amoxicillin-.aspx?SearchTerm=Fish%20mox+Auto

Some need prescriptions from your vet, but some like common antibiotics don’t require one.

“Where There Is No Doctor” and “Where There Is No Dentist” from Hesperian Health Guides are pretty good and we’re made for those out in “a village” without regular healthcare workers.

The guides used to be available for Free in PDF format, but are also available in a paperback form.

As with any emergency medicine, these books don’t take the place of proper and trained medical care, nor am I a medical professional, but have had training in the past and once I read these, I added the physical copies to our library.

What a great topic! It seems like more and more our jobs take the life out of us. I know that’s how it is for me. I work in the ever changing field of IT security and it always seems like we are behind the ball on a lot of things.

To help balance things out and stay sane, I enjoy time reading my Bible. It usually happens right before bed so my mind can totally relax.

During the day, I like to be out in nature whenever I can. We have a small flock of chickens and they can be so relaxing to watch and feed. Have you ever seen a chicken eat spaghetti? It’s pretty funny.

Anyway, whether it’s gardening, walking in the woods, or simply planning for the future, I try to do something everyday, no matter how little, to push me towards my dreams.

Lastly, I focus on the “motto” that we’ve adopted… “It’s the simpler things in life that matter.”

It was very, very cold here in Middle Tennessee! Our low got down to -1 and it was windy, but I don’t know what the windchill factor was.

We had ice and some snow (maybe an inch and a half). Our chickens made it through and were happy to see me in the morning.

We did have a rolling blackout which was supposed to be for 15 minutes but was around 40.

All-in-all, things were good. Stay warm everyone!!

I just downloaded it today, but am so glad that this app exists! It makes it so much easier to access the community! Thank you for all of the time hat you’ve put into this movement!

We like to keep it simple and have strived to not make it all about the presents.

Our children are all adults now. One of our children (with a family) just lost his job. Two others are new parents and our fourth is a college student with a part-time job, so money is tight for all. We are helping out and they are very grateful.

We do put a tree up and decorate, but nothing elaborate. We have a paper chain with the links made out of wrapping paper from that years gifts with one link for each type of paper. It’s a project that we started 25 years ago and that smoke chain is one of our treasures. We have some other family traditions like reading, “The Night Before Christmas” on Christmas Eve and reading the story of Jesus’ birth out of The Bible before presents and before we eat.c

  • Wow! That’s great! I try to have a similar attitude and am always looking to see what else I can learn.
