It is a wonderful food source. You can also grow Azolla in the same areas. There are many duck weed groups that know how to use this resource. As you mention, it is high in protein. I would think combing this with black soldier flies would be a win / win for your chickens or ducks or compost heap.

I run my mini split off solar now in Florida, and I am off grid.

Mini splits have been life changing for me as they require less power than a standard HVAC system, and typically don’t break down as often.

Well.. I switched from having hot water heat the sand to just using a hot water heater element in the sand to heat about 5 five gal buckets of sand…..

Well the temp is now staying between 140 to 153 deg F I have not had a clear sunny day yet it has been mostly cloudy days and it is keeping this temp with two used 260 Watt panels in series. ( they normally give 220 watts of power each )

I am amazed that I have that much mass at that heat level with two panels on cloudy days, when I get a sunny day I will then test extracting heat with the pex pipe I have in the sand….. But for it to keep above 140 degree temps for over 24 hours is very very impressive to me on cloudy days…

I like it, I would also consider bunkers, as this is getting into the same price as a bunker. Going just a bit bigger would allow a safe place to be for a tornado.

I have watched others build a sand bag root cellar, tons of work, but the end result was a great storage area.

Our family built a root cellar with cement block and we used horses to scoop dirt and move to the top of it. It was very moist inside but worked great to keep our food thru winter.

The video link above shows the plant and they comment on that they ferment it. I have been following various people who have been using “tree hay”…. for feeding livestock…. I have been growing mulberry, and other fodder crops for a few years in order to become more self sufficient.

Well, I want to grow more cabbage, or grow something I can barter with my friends who grow cabbage well.

I did this , and I did not like how it smelled when I was done. The plus side of this is I have found that black solider flies are highly attracted to fermented vegie’s so I fed this batch to them, I also gained experience with this silicone jar lid…..

Today I am moving on to testing growing mushrooms on wheat that has been cooked. I am going to try these silicone lids on to see if they will work when growing Oyster mushrooms..

I have been following the standards of Korean Natural gardening.

I add it to my compost heap. then feed my garden with that compost is how I have been doing it. One does need to be careful too much will kill plants. Chris Trump is a good person to follow on youtube

They may of built it right. In my research of putting shipping containers underground they have to be modified so they can deal with the weight of the ground pushing in. It can be done, just have to make sure it is done right..

Less people less craziness. Freedom exists where there are less eyes.

Nice…. I would be concerned if the walls could stand the weight, but I have considered an old culvert which is designed for such…
