My name is Jeff Venters. I live in Southeast Indiana with my wife, kids, and my mother. I have a small farm consisting of cattle, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and Maremma livestock guard dogs. I have a large garden and make hay. During the Covid Pandemic of 2020-2021, a “city” neighbor kept asking me how I knew how to grow a garden, harvest it, make hay, and fatten a steer out for the freezer. I didn’t have an answer other than I just did. It also never occurred to me that anyone that didn’t already know would be interested in knowing. The empty grocery shelves for months also re-ignited my dream and the possibility of making a living off of a small farm. Hopefully this will entertain and maybe educate. If nothing else, my daughter will have some documentation.
