About You

A late comer to the sustainable homestead lifestyle. My husband has been gardening and raising cows for all of his life. This summer, at the average age of 69, we built two large raised beds and several large tubs in a garden area. (I am trying to convince him to downsize his garden. Thanks to Danny and Wanda King, we took on the task of building a 10×28′ hoop house. As if that wasn’t enough, we took on the task of building a 20×22′ enclosed chicken pen with a 6×10′ by 8′ tall hen house for 4 hens and a mean ol’ Rock Island Red rooster, named Henry. After this my over zealous husband got the Chicken Math Flu and bought 41 baby chicks! We have been building chicken pens and houses ever since. Now we plan to sit on the back porch and enjoy the sounds of nature, except it is now hoop house time and planting a fall garden. Praising God for His many blessings bestowed upon us. Giving Him the glory for all that was accomplished this Summer. It was His strength that sustained this ol’ lady and her grumpy husband.
