My tomatoes had the biggest roots I have ever saw they were thicker around than the stock its self. Now then my greenbeans and lima beans I has so much trouble getting them to germinate, I planted 3 and 4 times. Once they finally germinated they did ok I got like 18 quarts our of 90 foot in rows for greenbeans and 15 pints of lima beans from the same amount, but the plants looked as if someone held a lighter to their leaves they turned black like they were burned. The roots werent bad, but not anythinf amazing either. My cucumbers never did germinate I planted them twice. Sweet potatoes did amazing! Irish taters were amazing but they rotted because we had so much rain. I didnt really see root issues but boy did I have germination issues. Danny told me pretty early on that it was due to the radiation.

For the last 2 years I have saved my petunia seeds because I hate spending money on flowers every year, but never saved any other seeds and Ivebeen gardening since 2005…I now realize how stupid of me this was because seed saving is so easy and satisfying!! So this year I am saving:
♡Petunias, alyssum, and zinnias
♡Henderson Lima bean
♡Cantare green beans
♡Mortgage lifter tomatoes
♡Wando peas
♡Jericho lettuce
♡I also will be putting a few sweet potatoes for sprouting and gold potatoes back for planting as well.
I have been busy trying to air layer all the things…I have yet to be successful but I will keep trying until I am! I have been able to successfully start a few things from cutting, trying all the things because umm free stuff from what I already have! This has for sure become an addiction, but at least it is a good one 😀

I loved that gentleman from greenhouse in the snow! He is very knowlegeable and the things he is able to grow in there made me excited. Funny to see this video posted again. We have a glass greenhouse that last summer we redid the block, when we move to our forever land we for sure will be following this gentlemans lead!

This list is so detailed, so many ideas. I have to agree with alot of these, the water issue and having a basement both for sure! I also agree with the simple things like fabric, clothes, sock, shoes because lets face it they WILL wear out eventually you can only patch or mend so many times.
I also think that people way over think things and they run out and buy a bunch of “cool things” just because someone told them to. Pay attention to the things you use every single day, week, month without fail and then make sure you have plenty of that. How much do you use of that in a month, then multiply that by a year or two or what not. What can you do without?
Water I think is everyones biggest issue. My family included! We were on well water for 10 years, I learned to conserve so well. My husband and oldest child have the hardest time with this because water is on tap…until its not. We will have to be like the old timers wash dishes in a dishpan, do you have a couple? Use the dishwater to water plants that need watered, reuse the rinse water to wash a load of clothes. If the water is in a dishpan you will find it is easier to reuse it so then you will. If its brown flush is down if its yellow let it mellow, or better yet if its yellow go outside or in a bucket so that you can use it to water with. You wont be bathing every single day…get use to that now! Some people will absolutely flip their crap over this alone…Ive got one in my house that will be in for a rude awakening, sometime 2 or more showers a day. Find an alternative now! Do you have natural water on your property you had no clue about, we found a natural spring had no clue it was there. Have a hand pump or way to get water out. Barrels or buckets to catch rain.
Dont always think about stuff you need to buy i think that is a big trap. If you have to leave you are only taking what you can carry. Knowledge is BIG! Learn what you can, while you can!!

I was coming to say this! I use my pressure cooker to make broth and by the time the broth is done the bones just crumble!

I have one plant that is doing this too, the rest are amazing and I keep taking sone leaves. Ive done salve, fed the animals and even buried some leaves for fertilizer.
*even tho the reply wasnt to me, thank you Billy I will try this as well.

Same here, also Ohio! We had 2 new trees burn completely up. My aloes burnt up, thankfully I was able to save them and they all mostly came back. I had to add shade cloth to my greenhouse as well as make a spot for our kids because the powerline company butchered the trees that they had for shade. Its been brutal for sure, thankfully I listened to Danny and got heat loving seeds mostly so our garden was good and then I made sure to plave things so that the things that needed some shade was able to get it.
