Granny …You’re so hot it’s uncomfortable. π

MemberSeptember 13, 2022 at 6:11 pm in reply to: Quick Question For All You Modern Day SurvivalistMy apologies … not meant to irritate and has nothing to do with my Mentor’s or me. Was meant to merely prompt research to show how people referred to things several hundred years ago based on their understanding. By all means, feel free to have the thread deleted.

I also totally agree that a notebook is a must for us older folks. Fortunately, I learned to always carry a pocket notebook all through my life for documenting all those important things. It’s interesting now to look back at what I recorded during my 20’s. π

My hat’s off to you. Raising two girls is an accomplishment in itself. I only had one son that was without a mother but I did have two sisters. π

While technology/new products has made it extremely easy … What happens to that person that loses or just doesn’t have access to those items? Don’t get me wrong, I probably always have four to five ways to start a fire with just what I carry on me every day. I don’t mind products to make it easy but I feel there’s too much focus on ‘things’ rather than knowledge and skills.
I can’t help but laugh when I see the list of “required items” that one of the leading survival schools has for their ‘Advanced Survival’ training. My advanced training only ‘allowed’ one item, a knife. The final and true test for my Mentors was surviving with nothing but the clothes I had on. Not even a knife. Those days of information exchange and teaching may be gone but they still live in my memories. π
