Hello, I’m from northern WA and generally don’t like social media because I’m fairly private and I don’t trust easily (bad past experience) but I’m loyal when my trust is finally earned. I’m here to learn from others how to get out and stay out of the “system” as much as possible and protect my kids. My husband isn’t as far along yet on the diy journey but baby steps at least are a step forward. He has always lived in a city but I feel like I was born in the wrong century. These last few years have really been eye opening for us. My dream is to someday move out of the city to property but for now I will learn and do all I can on our ~1/4 acre. My garden (herb, veg and fruit) gets bigger every year (lawn is less and less of a priority) and I’m learning real skills like herbalism for natural healing (lost any trust in mainstream med when my mom was damaged a number of years ago), real soap making, traditional cooking, all types of preserving etc. I’d like to add backyard chickens next. Advice and tips on getting out/doing more on a single income are also welcome.
