Im asthmatic. Dad’s end stage COPD. I had an idea in the middle of the night and I dont know if it’s good or not but- if SHTF and for whatever reason we couldn’t generate power anymore, would putting nebulizer meds in a spray bottle and inhaling that work?

Have you tried Mullein Tea? I am asthmatic and mullein helps me tremendously.

YES THIS!!! It’s also called indian toilet paper, its the softest leaf stuff around. lolol

The seeds were used by natives to knock out fish for easy harvesting, fyi its illegal as hell to fish this way now.

Study this plant, its versatile as hell.

My wife uses battery operated nebulizer.

That’s a good question. I don’t have those particular medical concerns but I have had family in the past that have. So when I started prepping I put back a couple of OTC inhalers jic someone might need them. The only suggestion I might offer for the nebulizer would be a small backup solar generator to give you emergency standby power.

Going to be tricky to atomize it in the correct dosage I would think. Those machines give a steady measured amount, not sure how you would go about that. Good job thinking outside the box though.

I am not saying your idea won’t work, just that some research is probably in order.

Hi all..accidentally ran into ur feed and became interested because I too have been concerned with this issue. After severe hurricanes in my area I had to find an alternative. I tried the spray bottle and ran into the molecules of water just being too large for the desired effect. I resorted to adding herbs to boiling water creating a “tent” over it that was as airtight around my head as I could safely make it and did inhalation until I just about fell asleep in it. Mind you this was definitely a last resort but when u can’t get oxygen in nothing seems too far gone. I had never heard of mullein being a treatment so will be looking into that…thanks.

All very good responses! I didn’t know that you can get battery operated nebulizers. Will look into that. I tried growing Mullien this year but it died before it grew in the flash drought. Will try again next year. Im skeptical about smoked mullien because I am so dang allergic to smoke but willing to try it. It just seems to be getting harder to get meds too. I used to be able to get a prescription for a whole year but now it’s all controlled by the insurance overlords. It’s concerning that you can only get for a few months at a time.

I only use mullein as a tea and it works. I am a former smoker, so not sure I want to go down that rabbit hole.

I use herbs like mullein, lobelia and various others, and also eucalyptus oil, menthol and camphor in steam. That works better for me than a nebulizer when I have trouble breathing. I have and COPD and a weakness toward congestive heart failure, so that’s a pretty common problem. Tinctures and the breathing steam keep me going. Green tea helps a lot of people, too. I got a nebulizer and tried it for awhile, but it wasn’t as good and was more hassle.

Portable nebulizers work pretty well. They can hold a charge for quite a while. I only need to use them when I get sick and I typically use colloidal silver. My asthma went away when I started eating local plants and flowers. You should look into that; especially local honey. Oh, and diffusers are another option. You can get many essential oils that help with asthma.

You should also try a salt inhaler. I have heard some good testimonials. It won’t work for everyone but it’s worth a shot.

Thank you Doug I will look into the salt inhaler. I do use local raw honey and mostly local food my own garden most years, and from the amish this year. I started taking black seed oil and all the things on the MASK protocol when I had the C sickness and surprisingly my lungs felt great! There were 2 days that I could feel the scariest pneumonia I ever felt setting in and I got desperate and used hydrogen peroxide in the nebulizer. It worked! So, Im definitely open to trying all the natural things.

From one of the threads on here about Covid, it led me to a list of Pharmacies in other countries: Pharmacies – FLCCC | Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (covid19criticalcare.com)https://covid19criticalcare.com/pharmacies/?filter_13=NO&filter_15=YES&filter_16=YES&filter_12=&filter_4_6=&filter_4_4=&mode=all. I went to Advance Canadian Pharmacy | Canadianpharmacy.net and found a TON of things that would be useful, and no prescription is required. Inhalers was one of them. 😊

That whole post was a WONDERFUL rabbit hole of Doctors, Pharmacies and information!!!

You know that’s who I went through when I had it, and was just wondering if I could get the script from them.

Indian Toilet Paper is a plant that is supposed to stop an asthma attack.

Put dried leaves in a bag and breathe.

It grows all over the west coast. might be worth doing some research.

If you have lamb’s ear this year, next year you will have mullein. It has a 2 year life cycle, year one – lamb’s ear, year two- mullein with the seed. Yay

Mullein does grow on a two year cycle. First year is low leaves, second years sends up the stalk. However, Lambs Ear and Mullein are two different plants. Lambs ear will never stalk.

I had asthma years ago and several of our kids did too. Tip from our chiropractor that stops acute attacks in seconds – find the midpoint on your chest between clavicles and nipples and massage gently. Should release spasms almost instantly. I went from using three different meds to zero in a few weeks and have never used them since. Probably 15 or 20 years now. Hope that helps…

Oh no, not painful at all. It’s just three or four inches below your collar bone and GENTLY massage till the spasm stops. Easy peasy, promise.. My daughter just did it for my two year old granddaughter who was having some problems and she went from struggling to breathe to singing me her abc song within one minute. Pretty simple. Hope it works for you too!!

Toni, I hope you see this. I just want to say thank you for that peppermint oil tip. It has changed my life. Im 60 years old and diagnosed with asthma when I was 5. Spent my whole life having to take meds, visiting emergency rooms enduring shot after shot of adrenalin to save my life, weeks in the hospital on oxygen, being put on medications with strong side effects and on things like steroids and then in the 1970s when they created rescue inhalers I truly THOUGHT it was a miracle. And while they worked for a time, after a while they werent as effective. Hillary Clintons big fat idea to ban areosols (in the 1990s?) nearly KILLED me as the alternative was soy and when they used soy in the inlalers I almost died of anaphalactic shock. How stupid. Anyway, I have spend 55 years of my life having to rely on this pharmacuetical or that to save my life when this plant based oil that grows right in my own back yard works just as well if not better. Im blown away. Thank you, thank you.

Have you ever seen those old movies where someone has their head bent over a steaming bowl with a towel over their head? That is how I would expect to nebulize herbal medication if no electricity was available. Mullein is great. It is both an expectorant and a bronchodilator. Pleurisy Root is another option and is a great bronchodilator but I’m only ever taken it by mouth, not by nebulizer. Also my inderstanding is that back in the day Lobelia inflata was an important anti-asthmatic. I have used the drops under my tongue for quick relief. Wild Cherry is another good bronchodilator, as well as a cough suppressant. I depend on it so much during allergy season. I have a video on Mullein I will try to post here if it is possible.

Regarding what @Toni mentioned, that is the thymus. Thumping it with your fists gently is what I do. An asthma/COPD attack can be eased with a hi grade peppermint oil. Mouth closed, inhale from bottle into your olfactory (nose)😁 till it relaxes the lungs. Thyme, cayenne, oregano, lobelia tincture 2 drops each in half cup water. Hold and swish in mouth. Magnesium chloride(transdermal) on your softest tissue(belly, armpit) or bottoms of feet will stop any type of spasm or inflammation issue. In about30 seconds. But, the peppermint oil comes first, if your about to turn blue. Prayers for your pop. He is lucky to have you 💜
