I’m in west central Florida and jokingly call our place “Fire Ant Ranch”. They are HORRIBLE! Only thing that really takes care of them is too toxic to use around our animals and myself. This summer I was bitten so badly that the top of my foot looked like I had monkeypox!

Fire ants are no joke. So painful & itchy! The Epic Garden Channel on YT has some great videos on Neem Oil, along with the Self-sufficient Me channel (10 organic ways to control pests). The Epic Channel in “Foolproof Aphid Control & Prevention” mentioned that it’s good to figure out what’s attracting the ants. Is it the aphid that leaves behind a sweet nectar for the ants to eat (bribing them lol)? Hope it helps!

You can carry a tube of Crest Tooth paste with you. Rub it on the bite. Will keep it from going to a blister. Other tooth paste may work, but I know crest works for me.

They keep subterranean termites at bay, though, as they are mortal enemies. They have a place, just not anywhere I want to spend time that’s for sure.

I pour boiling water on the mound. Repeat the next day when you can see what survived. It’s the only thing I found that works. Byw, we must be neighbors I live in Central FL. Tampa Bay area.

I am sorry you are having to deal with the fire ants. The only thing I have found that worked on them was Amdro Fire Ant Bait. I sprinkle some on each mound (I had like 40 mounds on three acres) and went back and there were very few ants still alive on very few mounds. But from what I understand it is quite toxic. Cannot use in garden or around…… but it does work.

Yep, they got me yesterday pretty badly when I was picking up a bunch of pine straw. All over both wrists and ankles. This is day #2. I’ve heard lavender oil works well so I’m giving that a try.

Plantain salve works well too. When we were little my mom used to slather us with alcohol after we got into fire ants or mosquitoes.

I hate them. I pour boiling hot water over the mound and repeat the next day.
