Good morning! Just got done watching the June 5 morning video by Pinball regarding banking. I almost made a comment out there but I thought I’d rather make it in here since the audience is a little more “focused.”
Long before Pinball started talking about it, I’ve attempted to keep money in different locations. I started a bank account with Old Glory Bank and so far I’m happy with it. I say so far because I haven’t been there that long to have an in-depth opinion.
It was pretty easy to set up although there was a little bit of inconsistency with the directions in the beginning. Funny enough, the bank President called me to ask how my experience was. I know you’re thinking, yeah he did. That’s a scam. No, it was him. I followed up on it and it really was him. They’re small enough that he could do that to begin with. Not to mention they were throttling how fast people could sign up due to the fact they didn’t have a huge number of employees to manage things. It’s wide open now.
We had a great talk and I walked him through some technical things that could be tweaked to make things better. (part of what I have done in my 22+ I.T. career is right or rewrite technical instructions and do quality checks on websites to make sure the instructions match)
He took notes. He asked me to send him screenshots which I did. They implemented my suggestions and they’ve had less complaints about the sign-up process. Maybe I should ask them if they’re hiring since I’m still looking. 👀

I worked for IT on large networks over 20,000 users. It was my experience that if you wrote a FAQ document the right way, 90% of your work was done in that the user could fix their own machine with what ever problem they ran into.
I found my life in IT was just like the Dilbert cartoon as politics of boss verses boss stopped so much work from getting done, because there was a fight for who was gonna get the credit to get the job done, or, they did not want to fix the problem because it would be a problem for the department that ticked them off a week back.
I am so glad to be out of the Dilbert world.

You should definitely ask if they are hiring. They just got super improvement for free. Glad to hear its s good bank for you.

Did you happen to ask the president if they try and force the digital dollar on us would our money still be safe? I mentioned old glory bank a few months ago but everybody thought it was a scam.

I did not. I did not think of it at the time. I will reach out to them and see if I can get an answer.
