I listened to this segment from Pinball, and I have been thinking in these terms for several months.

I have a board on MeWe for those who live in Tiny Homes – Vans – RV’s…..

I have added a 5 gal toilet to my van, and I have a portable shower with means to heat water and take a hot shower.

I was thinking after a nuke strike that I may need to move, but the next question in my mind is with EMP what is going to work? Also they will probably hit the targets multiple times so getting out your gear right away and trying to find out what is going on may be a mistake as you could fry your working electronics….

I have been navigating where are there caves in the area? I was thinking these may be the best bug out location for shelter when nuke events hit….

I don’t want to leave home as I have all my toys here, but with radioactive clouds we may have no choice.

Even if there is no nuke, what if there is no gas? When we run out of Diesel in 25 days, exactly how is gas going to be delivered to our gas stations?

What is the range of what is in your car + what you have stored? Good to know as civil war, and gas shortages are here in about 30 days if things do not change.

I have tested sleeping in my van, and the best way I have done that is to put a lazy boy recliner in the back for a bed, I get a great night sleep with that, also adding black out curtains on the inside sure helped with the privacy issue. I have done a test run, and I have made notes for myself of how I could make life much better in the van for long term for me.

My life is in The Lord’s hands.

Not really ready, but truth be told; am far more concerned about my daughter and grand-daughter (whom I’ve never met).

Yep I am with, you I ask for my daily bread. I do wonder how much of what I do is not working with in the “trouble of this day”….

@Marthale7 Pretty much any carbureted vehicle can be converted to a points type ignition, which will not be affected. I personally think any old GM product with an HEI distributor would be quick and easy to get running with a simple module swap, if it’s even bothered at all. Any and all mechanical diesel engines will still run just fine too. So there are options.

Yeah, I was thinking things like go carts and lawn mowers should have no problem running. The big thing after a nuke is loosing communication, and electrical grid would be my guess. Much depends on the height of the detonation of the nuke…. and how far away we are to the event. Most cars should just work from what I understand, unless you are dealing with a custom made EMP device which can ruin your day….
