Pinball’s latest video shows how he is using leaves to enrich the soil for his garden.

I noted he was saying how long it took for wood chips to break down and we need to perhaps expedite the process.

I found some of the best results I had was putting down 20 inches of leaves, then putting 6 inches of wood chips on top of that. It seems to create a worm heaven in that they adore the leaves and help break it down.

I saw his video on that and started using them for my clay soil. I don’t have enough leaves for that deep though.

Yes when Paul first started it he used wood chips only, they broke down, took time but worked great.

One has to use what one has, it took about 4 years before I got 70 truck loads of chips. I have sand.

I have found that others use mulch method, they call it Deep Mulch. Jean Pain has his own ways of using the wood chips.

Ruth Stout used hay….. but one has to be careful the hay / straw has not been sprayed with herbicides.
