Really enjoy having my bees the last five years, they are so interesting. You can always replace your hive by catching a free swarm, once you learn more about them but it is still a hard loss to see when it happens. Yes, bears pay no mind to the electric fence once they know what is there. I have my bees in a enclosed dog kennel, and they just climbed inside over the electrified fence. I have a guardian dog for myself,( no livestock). But a bear would be dangerous for one dog if it should decide to attack. He is a great watchdog and very protective, but with no fencing, I cannot leave him outdoors at night.
