Manual well pump?

We are not off grid, but trying to build systems that would allow for that in the event that we need to. Our primary water source is a well with an electric pump. If I recall correctly, it is around 110′ total depth, with the pump set at around 85′. These depths are close for reference, if I find a solution, I will confirm before proceeding.

I would like to add a manual pump option, preferably one that would not require me pulling the electric pump out of the well. Due to our location, we are not high on the priority list for power restoration, so it isn’t unusual for us to be without power for several days after storms. I want something durable, as we have livestock and they use at least 100 gallons/day. If we were knocked off the grid long term, their water source might be changed, but I would like to consider practical solutions to allow us to use the well.

Any thoughts, recommendations, suggestions or other questions I haven’t answered? I will add, we don’t have solar (yet), but that is high on my list as well, which would provide another option. I still like the idea of having a manual pump because – 1 is none, 2 is one

    Thanks in advance

Since you have livestock I’m sure you’ve already considered a stock pond but throwing it out just in case. Lehmans has a Stainless Steel Deep Well Pump Head, Deep Well Pumps – Lehman’s (lehmans.com), which says can be installed in tandem with an electric pump and should easily hit the depth you’re trying to reach.

Most important thing is the size of your pipe. If you look up old posts there is some past posts on this.Good luck.

I also have a well. I bought a well pump from harbor freight which has the tank and pressure regulator as part of it. Because they hit a spring when drilling I (when conditions are raining) I have a constant flow of water out of a pipe that was added to the side of the above ground side of the casing. If things were to get bad my thoughts are to cut the pipe leaving enough to reattach to if needed and run a hose down into the well. Hope this helps.
