Are there any herbs that are anti-hallucinogenic?

For those caring for an elderly person with dementia that experiences hallucinations or wakes up in the night from overly-vivid dreaming and thinks they need to get up and go somewhere because it was so real, are there any herbs that calm the mind so pharmaceutical drugs can be avoided or replaced if/when the system goes down or there are shortages and prescription drugs are not available? If so, what are they and how should they be prepared/used and in what dosages? Thanks!

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for the timely reply. Are you saying that it stops hallucinations in such a patient? Any idea about dosage and what time of day is best to take it? Or is it needed more than once a day? Recommendations for a source for high quality or that tests for heavy metal contamination?

    Thanks, Kim

Hello there . Wrote this elsewhere, but not sure it posted. Disclaimer not medical advice just personal experiences. Use taurine.pseudo amino acid that has wonderful documented studies for stroke, neuromuscular diseases, and seizures. Look on PubMed.

I’ve used it for adverse drug reactions and it’s a life saver. Helps with shaking, paranoid thoughts, irritation, need to pace back and forth. Does lower blood sugar so needs to be taken with food. Used 500-1000mg doses for 110-125lb body weight; multiple times a day if very symptomatic.

If you get bulk powder, it’s tasteless and cheap.
