I bought two holstein heifers from a guy. They are about 15 months old. One of them is half the size of the other, very skinny and nothing I do helps. Any ideas on how to keep a hard to keep heifer? Thanks in advance.

Does the skinny heifer act differently than the other heifer? Is it skinny all over or does it have large stomach region but skinny everywhere else?

Have you had her vet checked>? What have you done to try to fix the situation? For how long>? Pics would help…

Not vett checked, she has been wormed more than once since I have had her. She has been given a shot for pink eye which she had when I got her and her regular injections. It is the mostly white cow. These two cows are the same age

Hmmm, yeah, they definitely both could use some good groceries. What are you feeding them now? And how much and how often? And how long have you had them? Do they have other grass available than what is in this pic? Are you providing hay 24/7 also? If so, a pic of your hay would help…

Is this your first time raising dairy animals?

Worms would be my first thought and I would treat them both…

Dairy cows require alot of feed. The smaller one could just be genetics. Or wasn’t given the proper nutrition as a young calf. I’d pour the feed to them.
