What should chickens NOT be given to eat?

I’m trying to figure out ways to feed my bantams in case I’m unable to obtain the usual processed feed from the store.

It seems I recall hearing something about not feeding chickens potato peels. Are there other foods or creepy crawlers that would be toxic or harmful for them? Or will they just not eat anything that isn’t good for them?

Would snails be okay? I kill so many snails every year, so I’m wondering if the chickens would like them or benefit from them? They love the cabbage moth worms that plague my kale and brassicas.

How about other crawling critters? I’d like to raise BSF larvae for them to help with their protein requirements, but need an education on that as I only recently became aware of it.

    Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If they are getting a variety of things to choose from, they’ll likely not eat anything bad for them. but if they are hungry and only one thing is available, they’ll likely eat that. so, whether it’s weeds, scraps whatever, provide a mix. anything they don’t eat, gets composted.

I like the way that Billy from permi pastures said it. The chickens get everything except for chicken and the pigs get everything except for pork
