I just put my 1 month old chicks in their own pen this weekend and tonight we are getting torrential rains. They are not on the roost poles we made for them. They are all on the ground. They are fully feathered but I worry.

I had a similar situation this time last year. They all survived, but I did worry about them. As long as they have a place to get to where their feet can be dry, they should be fine. I understand that chicken-mama worry.

If you have provided a shelter they’ll be fine. If not take a trash can and turn it on its side and put two pieces of 2×4 on either side in order to stabilize the can from rolling. Be sure you put some straw or hay on the bottom for their footing. It will provide a temporary shelter from the rain.

4 weeks is too young to be out in bad weather.

They all survived thank goodness. No rain for a couple of days. They have shelter. But it was raining so hard that we got 3 inches overnight. I was afraid they would get washed into flood. With our 90 degree weather. They are not to young and being fully feathered
