I have just adopted brother and sister kunekunes. Angus & Red. They are almost 300 lbs. each. I have been mostly feeding them grain, soy meal, cracked corn. 7 lbs daily for both. Is that sufficient? They get apples, scraps sometimes too. They have plenty to root on in woods. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Mine have limited access to forage. I give them a bowl of all stock feed in the morning and evening.

Thank you. Think I might have to feed them 2x daily. They’re always looking hungry

They will convince you to feed them to death. Don’t…

KuneKune aren’t supposed to root. Much that is, they are a grazing pig. Find another KuneKune and start breeding, they go for good money. You could sell them for whatever but they are a pricey pig to get a hold of. Save your boar and slaughter the sow. I’m not sure what you plan to do with them, being siblings I wouldn’t breed them together. Risk terrible traits coming out down the line or just a mass of piglets die still birth.

The boar is fixed. But I could get another boar and start breeding. It’s all new. I have alot to learn

If a male has been castrated, they are called barrows. Boars are intact male.

I’d suggest going over to KC Farms over on youtube. They raise kunekune and share alot of information.

I also have kunekunes. But there get limited feed. Like 2-4 cups 2x a day. They are pasture pigs. They thrive on grass. I used the feed more as a treat.

I would assume at 300lbs they are much older. (Or very much over fed) But I would not breed your gilt until she is atleast 12-14 months old.

I was told they are 2 years old. I believe they were overfed when I got them. I give them 2 cups pig feed each 2x daily. That’s what KC Farms does
