I’m looking for a grain mill. I would like to make bread flour. I would like a Kitchen Aid attachment if it’s good enough. I would also like to pay $100 or less. Any suggestions?

We used the Kitchen Aide grain mill for a while to grind wheat. It will do an adequate job of grinding flour for bread – not quite as fine as you would buy commercially, but it works. We did find that if we tried to grind very much (several cups), the motor would get hot, and I worried about damaging gears inside the mixer. It does fine for 4-5 cups at a time though. Wonder mill is also a decent option that might be worth saving for if you think you’ll be grinding a lot of flour.

I agree with BetterNow that it might be a good idea to save up for a better mill. I’ve heard that people don’t like the Kitchen Aid attachment very much. I have a Nutrimill which is a lot more than $100, but has been so worth it! It has a very large hopper so that I can grind a lot at once and the warranty is amazing. The motor burned out after maybe 7 years of consistent use and they fixed it at no cost except shipping. I eventually had to buy a new one because I wore it out and they gave me 50% off for being a loyal customer. It’s a very good company. I have also heard great things about the Wondermill as well.

Thanks! I’ll look at the Nutrimill.

I bought a “country living grain mill”… and it worked, I recommend an electric motor for it, I managed to hook a bicycle to it, but I found using the vitamix blender to grind grain was a better fit for me as I found replacement blades from china cheap on ebay.

Country Living can be found used on ebay, they are expensive, heavy, but awesome for long term, but take a good amount of muscle to use unless you go with an electric motor option.

I have heard good reviews on the Wondermill but more expensive than $100.00 To get a good grain mill that will last, they do cost.

Thanks I’ve been looking at the Wonder Mill. I don’t know that I would be a mill often, but that may be a good option. But that Country Living mill looks awesome!
