Every Tuesday,at 7PM CST, barring any scheduling conflicts, we do a live-stream Homestead Update followed by discussion about what ever the hot-topic is at Grumpy Acres Farm. We answer any questions thrown at us from chat, as well. If you have the time or inclination, stop by to join us and have a bit of fun.

8/23 – This weeks discussion after the update will be about feed n fodder and Freesteading.com

8/29 – After the update, we’re going to talk about helping hands and what we can do to purse that life done free.

I’m glad you posted about Freeze drying. My daughter has been contemplating it for sometime. I just asked her a week ago about going in on half. I didnt realize that humidity plays a big factor in these. We live in a high humidity area. I can and dehydrate with no issues so I’m glad I read this post. Thank you for the udate. Its something to think about before purchasing.

From experience, if you can put the dryer in a room with a de-humidifier, you won’t have any problems. At the old place, we could take our time packaging stuff, because we had really good conditions. At the new place, we have to get everything sealed up as quickly as possible, in order to not have problems with moisture in the air. My recommendation, if you have the money and are serious about putting food up for long term storage, buy one. It will more than pay for itself in short order, and the humidity issue is something you can work around.

Thank you for your reply. It’s always nice to have opinions of the Pros and Cons of anything you want to try out.

One of the topics of tonight’s Livestream has changed. Had someone comment on my Full Spectrum Preparedness video basically saying “What are we preparing for, he’s been doing it a long time, and he can’t take his stuff with him.” There is a ton to unpack from his comment, and we are going to do that; hopefully.

Join us Tuesday, 7PM CST, for our weekly homestead update. Along with the update, this week, we are going to talk about getting ready to go to the “Back To The Land Festival” and the idea of “Full Spectrum Homesteading”. Of course we’ll be taking questions as usual. We hope to see you there.

We have another Homestead Update Livestream coming up Oct 18. This time, we’ll update everyone on what happened at the homestead rotation we hosted this week, talk a little bit on the economics of staging one, discuss dealing with the never ending parade of frustrations that tend to be part and parcel of running a homestead, and whatever else comes up. The last live update was really fun; we hope to see everyone again.

If you’ve got time, pop on over to Grumpy Acres tonight for our Live Stream 7PM CST. Once we give our weekly update we are not 100% sure where the conversation will take us.
