You wouldn’t happen to be dealing with parosmia and/or anosmia would you ?

I’ve been dealing with that crap now for a year come October.

I actually have a heightened sense of smell to the point I’ve had to go to all unscented and sometimes wear mask to stores not cause of covid but to block smells

My sense of smell has been heightened and distorted which has my sense of taste way off skew. Eating has been a real problem because most foods seem rotten or rancid. A nose clip allows me to eat anything but it’s damn hard to eat without breathing so I stick to what I can tolerate. Stores as you mentioned are horrible, the foods, colognes, perfumes, peoples b.o. , detergents and soaps.. all overwhelming at times. Anyway… you have a fellow long hauler here who understands.

No I don’t as now my body’s failing me lol But thanx for the thought. Some of us just do not got this. Ain’t for lack of trying but we will be/are the burdens ppl fear so much to have to contend with. My one hand swelling now (why? Dunno) doesn’t even let me cook more n more often. Cooking/baking is my one lifelong passion.

Just a perspective on those not able, once the grid goes or simple chaos hits. Thank God my 2 still at home are both able to earn money now, though I hate not being able to have it happen in a safer method like a 2 parent family could provide in majority of situations.

I love seeing what everyone has done over the weekend. I am in Nevada County Ca I cleaned the coop, dug 4 buckets of compost tossed it onto the little upper yard with the coop cleaning. Fixed the fence and canned meatballs and some potatoes. did other stuff too but not so much as prep work. Thanks for listing.

WWorked one finding property lines and the storage building site. Finally laid out the building, cleared some brush and small trees, and may have found the third of the four corners. Not sure if it just a boundary marker or a corner. Did not find the iron post, but did not have a metal detector. So I know where the marker is and will try again next week to find the post.

MOST EXCITING part, I spent time with my youngest daughter. She actually gave up her phone time to be on the land with me! She is the one that saw the marker first. She also learned to chop a small tree with an axe.

Since I work during the week, I don’t get a lot of time then, but next weekend start setting blocks and getting materials for building. Also my wife wants to go camping there next weekend to see what else we may need. Having a great time watching the family come back together.

Wow, heck yeah!!! That is awesome, so glad you got your daughter out to help and it sounds like you guys had fun! Bonus points for her learning how to use an axe!

More good news. My daughter has not only learned to use the axe, but also used the circular saw and pneumatic nail gun while helping me to build a small shed for my wife to store some gardening items in for her container gardens. So blessed that she wants to learn this stuff. Have also had her helping work on a car that will become hers. And all this at nineteen. 😀

    Busy weekend here…

Helped my sister relocate the shop she works at to a new location in town. Assembled shelving and unpacked boxes for most of the afternoon. I got to take all the wood and some heavy duty metal merchandise hanging stuff from the old shop home (they weren’t going to reuse it). I wasn’t anticipating the metal stuff but thought it might make good trellis if propped up by t-posts so I brought it, too.

Went to the range for the first time in a while on Saturday. Got to shoot some old favorites and try some new things.

Got the garage organized. I had picked up a large section of old wooden fence a neighbor was replacing. And then all the stuff from the shop. Garage floor is too full now!

Built my sister a raised planter to take to her apartment porch.

Replaced some fence boards in my fence.

Cut the pieces out for 3 rabbit hutch frames. Still need to find material for the roofing, though.

Also cut out some framing (legs and braces) for a new table to go against the back wall of the garage. I’ll use this to stack some of the lumber to get it out of the way for now… Heading back outside for a few more cuts before it gets too dark but I’ll have to finish this project up another day.

And I still have to replace the ballast in my kitchen light fixture that went out a few days ago!

This weekend has been relaxing, a little bit of rain, made for a nice walk after. Watching football and reading a book for today. Just thinking about tomorrow and what all needs to be done, not really sure what will get done, that’s for tomorrow anyway. Last couple of weeks got some home work done, still another room to do and always garden work. I’ll decide tomorrow…..

Still canning 70 lbs of chicken into different ready to eat meals. 20 pints done, 20 currently in the canner, 20 more to go. 7 quarts of Chicken veggie soup,10 quarts of chicken bone broth so far with about 10 to go. Still need to separate the fat (for dog food) from the bones (for bone meal). Even cooked a roast with the trimmings for the family before my brother goes back to Florida in the morning. I am one whooped chick right now. 😆

It’s growing chicken time and I am building a coop as well. Carpentry doesn’t seem to have taken root in my DNA, but just like in the kitchen, I can follow a “recipe” and end up with something that doesn’t look like I made it in the dark with my feet. And I have very forgiving chickens with an awesome sense of humor. I make them laugh every day. (Seriously….don’t chickens have the most judgy expressions ever?)
