High Tunnel Growing

We picked up our high tunnel from Growers Solution and it is in the process of being installed now. We are in NE Oklahoma and hoping to grow some cold hardy plants. I am thinking lettuce, spinach, carrots, beets, rutabagas. Not sure what I will have success with but if I don’t try, I will never know. Those of you with high tunnels, what do you have growing and what zone are you in? thanks!

Following your comment. We are curious too. Don’t have a high tunnel yet but it is on our wish list.

Grow some Miyashige Daikon radishes. Mine survived last years winter at 15 F and 6 inches of snow on top of them. They produce greens you can eat although they are kinda rough for a salad, and the carrots get 2-6 lbs big.

I’ve heard the radishes are great in cool weather.

We are Zone 7. I am hoping to at least be able to grow some spinach, lettuce, radishes, broccoli and maybe a few other cool weather crops. Frost has already gotten most of my out door garden. I will definitely be experimenting!

I am hoping for good success. Was hoping for some who have tunnels to give some advice. I will be experimenting and see how successful I am. Hoping to be able to stay home full time soon and that will give me more time to “work” on it.

I’ve moved my lemongrass into my high tunnel in pots too. So far it’s very happy. Still have peppers, eggplant and tomatoes producing in the tunnel which is now enclosed and sealed off and will transition to winter veg as production wains.

Zone 7 too. Going to try cabbage, lettuces, kale, spinach, swiss chard, broccoli, cauliflower, turnips, carrots, brussel sprouts and onions. Just going to give it a whirl and experiment under our high tunnel as its my first time growing under it in winter. Any feedback is most welcomed.

I need to take a look at what herbs I still have growing and see if I can pot some and move them into the tunnel. Thanks for the idea.
