Delicata squash

Has anyone ever grown delicata.? The first year I grew it they grew to 8-10” in length. They were so delicious. Every year since they only get to 4-5”. The only thing I’ve done different is the first year I grew them on an arch trellis. Since, it’s been on the ground. Any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated. I know the obvious is too go back to the arch but I’d have to create an area.

I looked them up and I see there is a bush variety and a larger variety. There may be more. I was also thinking that if you saved seed to plant the next year maybe it was a hybrid or the soil may not have had the same fertilizer as the previous year.

I purchased two types of seed online. I’d like to try this variety. It sounds good and good for storage.

Thank you. I was thinking the soil too but the plant itself grew so strong .

I think the only squash I planted that year was delicata but I’m going to go from the new seeds only next year and see what happens.

        It’s ok.

Enough for a couple Ratatouille. I planted a

Couple of seeds in the ground . Maybe we’ll get a couple more before fall☺️

Here to a disaster, only the summer squash survived. But have to take them young with the flowers still to not loose the fruit. Those nasty snails are everywhere!

If they’re big why not try eating them?

<div>I have 3 rogue tomato plants that popped up in my garden this year, 1 was in an old container that didn’t even have tomatoes in it last year. Couldn’t figure out what they were but I nursed them all just the same. Put 2 and 2 together later. Think they were offspring from a Super Sweet 100 that I grew in a different spot last year. It was a hybrid. They look just like the one from last year but dwarfed, plants and the tomatoes. Good enough for snacking though. </div>

The one from last year was the only tomato that I planted from seed to survive and it did pretty well and the tomatoes were actually sweet. One of my better plants all the way to October. Bought the one for this year as a plant and the tomatoes aren’t all that to brag about. Just taste like a regular cherry tomato. Already looking kinda rough too. Last year virtually tripled output when the weather cooled. This years might not even make it that far.

I agree with the hybrid theory. If you were replanting seeds from previous year it could be something like that if they were a hybrid. Same plant just dwarfed fruit.

Yes I’m now pretty sure that’s what probably happened. In regard to your rogue tomato. I compost everything including rotten vegetables from garden and house so inevitably once compost is spread each spring I have various plants growing everywhere 😂. Some I leave, some I transplant and some I get rid of. I find it fun to see them pop up.
