Deer fence

I started planning on using fishing line, but the double fence seems to be working so far. 3 wire electric on the outside with a single non electric inside about 5 feet away. I have a metal tag hanging in the middle of each span that spins in the breeze. The flicker and movement might be helpful.

I use what is called a hot zone fence system but I built it myself. I use braided fence wire with step-in post. Two strands, 10” and 18” off the ground. I also add another fence 3’ away from the first (outside). Using ribbon electric wire and placing it 14” off the ground. I use a solar charger and connect it to the ribbon wire. This has worked for around 8 years. I have watched the deer on my wifi camera and they will eat along the outside of the fence but they never jump in. They can’t figure how to get in, it funny to watch 😳😂. I hope this helps someone.

They do have their paths they take but we see them interning our property just about anywhere they wish to jump the fence. Last year some gave birth just a few hundred feet away from one of the garden spots. We had 2 fawns running around for about a month and half until they could jump the fence and graze with the others. I’m afraid I would be installing a lot of lights.
