    hi all

    i have been gifted some store-bought shallots and heard shallots can produce between four [4] and twelve [12] more each and are perennials

    is this worth trying with store-bought shallots or not…??

    if it is worth trying what are your tips for sowing i.e. depth-to-sow, row-and-column-distance, time of year to sow, how long till harvest best natural feed and-such

    bona-fide

    edit;

    i have just come across this interesting video on growing shallots from store-bought

    Unless they are sprayed with a sprouting inhibitor, which some grocery items are, to extend their shelf life, why not give it a go?

    The worst thing that can happen is they rot in the ground and enrich the soil. The best thing is it provides some food! Good luck, and I hope this worked for you.
