That is true. I had read that THEY had to do several PCR tests on one chicken in order to get a false positive in order to shut down one egg-producing farm which they did. At the end of 2022, 52,695,450 egg-producing chickens were dispatched in the USA. Yes, you read that right almost 53 MILLION. This not only creates egg shortages & disruption in the supply chain for eggs resulting in higher prices for the consumer. BUT it has a two-fold problem in that it ALSO eliminates CHICKS to be hatched since Chicken Hatcheries were also closed & the chickens dispatched. Those of you that incubate eggs may want to consider upping your incubation numbers to be able to get more chicks to homesteaders that will be trying to buy them this spring. I’m sure there are Hatcheries still around but the demand for them due to eggs prices skyrocketing may deplete their stocks quickly this year.
