I have a Facebook page called “ preparing for emergency situations in Gilchrist County Florida.” Although it is designed for my county, an emergency is an emergency and hurricanes fit that bill. I have lived in Florida all my life and have been through more hurricanes than I care to count. Everything is important in being prepared but I think having a safe place to be, clean water and a few weeks supply of meds (if you take meds) is at the top. Then food, including food for your animals. This is the first year we will have freeze dried foods in Mylar or glass jars. I think this will be important to having ready cooked food and just adding water.
