Great idea on the wasp stings. I go into antiflactic shock when I am stung by a wasp or bee. Not sure anything would help other than epi pen. If I get stung and leave this world, my heart is right with God and I am ready.

More than one EpiPen needs to be at hand, and the correct one for the person (child or adult depending on body weight), sometimes one injection will help but may need to be repeated. It also likely needs to be accompanied by diphenhydramine (Benedryl) as they do two different things.

anytime an EpiPen is used, call 911 anyway, and be able to tell the medic when the sting (or ingestion of allergen) occurred to the best of your ability, when and how many Epi’s were used (keep them so they can check it activated and not expired), and if Benedryl was administered, how much, by what route and when.

Anyone at risk of Anaphylactic shock should discuss this in detail with their primary care provider for their suggestions, for their specific allergy(ies).

As a sometime beekeeper, I kept Epi’s and Benedryl at hand even though I’m not allergic. 1) it could creep up without warning or 2) someone else that is allergic, but unprepared could be stung, as the beekeeper I felt it my duty to be prepared, in case.

When picking an epi pen up from the pharmacy, please check the expiration while you are at the pickup window. Sometimes epi pens will have expired before they are sold. It happens often enough to make mention.

I walked out the back door and a red wasp popped me 2 times on the nose , it hurt so bad and my epi-pen was at work… I have never been stung by a red wasp before… I did not know if I was allergic to a red wasp sting or not…I’m allergic to a lot of stuff .. I have allergy induced asthma also… My nose started to run and then it stopped up…I texted my friend and said quick what can i do for a red wasp Sting? She said Lavender oil… I ran and got my Lavender oil and put it on my nose….I couldn’t believe it! My nose stopped hurting and the stings never hurt again…

It doesn’t work as well for yellow jacket stings but it does dull the pain.

Are red wasps specific to the Southern U.S.? I have never heard of them here in Ohio.

They are VERY common here in the south. My 1st experience with them was on the river fishing. They pack a powerful punch with their sting, almost as bad as a hornet, in my opinion.
I’ve seen them here on my homestead, too so I steer clear of them at all costs.

Homeopathic remedy name Apis works well for us. Take every 15 minutes for an hour until pain starts to alleviate. Soon as that happnes stop taking it and let your body finish.

Yes, you are correct. It is also good for snake bites to draw the poison out. It grows wild in certain areas of my homestead so I harvest it to dry to have on hand as well as know where to go QUICK to find it when needed outside. It grows almost year around here in my area of coastal AL (zone 8b).

It’s little late for old stings, but the best immediate remedy is to pack some mud on the bite. Just grab sone dirt, wet it like a face mask clay, and slap it on. After that, dock and plantain are good also. Mud is the best. For bee sting, when the mud dries and you peel it off, it usually also pulls the stinger out with it.
