“My Messages” feature question?
The “My Messages menu item and notification icon are both quite active. But when I go into “My Messages”, it is predominantly just a user name with a timestamp. I can click the user name to see their profile, but there is nothing I can click on to see any associated “message”.
When I click the “three-dot” menu on an entry and try “Delete your messages”, I get the confirmation pop-up and click “ok” to proceed and the screen refreshes with the same list of “message” content.
Can someone advise the purpose of “My Messages” and how it should be used?

Click on your MESSAGE icon. It will bring up all of your messages with people. At the bottom of the list it will say VIEW INBOX. CLick on that. It brings up all the people you have messaged or those that sent you msgs. Click on the person msg that you want to delete. It will bring up all of your msgs with each other. Then click on the 3 dots. It will have DELETE YOUR MESSAGES. Click on that option. It will ask you to confirm you want to delete “YOUR MESSAGES” & that this process can’t be undone. Click delete. Unfortunately it will only delete YOUR message YOU sent but not the entire conversation. Their msgs/responses will still be there but YOUR msgs/responses will be deleted. Go back & click on that conversation and you will see that your MSGS WERE DELETED but their msgs/responses were not. Not sure how to delete the WHOLE CONVERSATION of both you & the contact/member.

Yep – that’s what I’m doing, but the behavior is still as I previously described. I’ve yet to send any messages to anyone and I don’t know that anyone has sent me a message, yet the “My Messages” inbox has a ton of entries (hundreds?) that are predominantly just a user name and a timestamp… there’s no associated message or link to a message that I can see.
Perhaps it’s just coding “growing pains” with freesteading? I’m just trying to make sure if I am seeing it right and whether they should, or should not be, something indicating a message with each entry in my inbox (a subject line, or part of the message, a link, etc).
If it makes a difference, I should probably mention I’m on PC desktop using the Chrome browser (up to date). I don’t typically use apps on my phone as the screen is too tiny to read.

I’m on a Desktop PC, too. My msg box only has a few msgs/conversations with some people I’m connected with. Not sure why you have so many with no content. I will try to send you a msg to see if it will go thru. Had another member send me a msg a few days ago as he was having some issues with the message section of this platform, too, but I think it was a different problem. His msg did come thru & I responded but haven’t heard anything else from him.
Let me see if I can send you a msg & you actually receive it.

Can’t find any way to send msg unless we are “connected”. I sent you a request to connect so maybe we can get this figured out AND to help others that may be having the same problem.

I am also having trouble with the Messages section. The bell notification at the top right tells me I have messages but then I chick on them and it takes me to the messages page but there are no messages displayed. I have tried also clicking on the Messages icon next to the bell and selected Inbox, but the same thing happens.
